GOTS-certification

GOTS-certified organic cotton yarn is the material we use to weave all our fabrics. We also use GOTS-approved pigments in our printing inks.

What is GOTS-certification?

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a globally recognised certification for textiles made with organic fibres. It combines strict environmental, human rights including social requirements with independent certification across the entire textile processing supply chain.

GOTS certification is based on four distinctive and defining features

Organic fibres: Organic fibres are natural fibres grown without synthetic pesticides or genetically modified organisms (GMOs), in accordance with the principles of organic farming. Organic farming is a production process that maintains the health of ecosystems, soil and people.

Environmental and social criteria: The standard covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of all textiles made from at least 70% certified organic fibres.

Every stage of processing: All stages of processing, manufacturing and trading of organic textiles are covered by GOTS. Every stage must be certified according to strict environmental and social criteria for a product to carry the GOTS label. This helps prevent greenwashing.

Independent third-party certification: On-site inspections and certification of processing facilities, manufacturers and traders are carried out by independent third-party certification bodies accredited by GOTS.
