Gyllstad was founded by Ulrika Gyllstad
Our namesake brand Gyllstad was born from Ulrikas long-held dream of creating a collection that truly reflects her love for prints & colours. After years in the fashion industry, Ulrika felt a growing desire to create products with long lasting value. Timeless pieces for you and your home, to wear and use for a long time, not just for the season. Her passion for print design had begun already back at Beckmans highschool of Design in the 1990's. In the spring of 2014, her dream and vision became reality with the launch of Gyllstad. From day one, we've committed to local production and thoughtful long-term choices throughout every step of our design and production process.

Our cotton
Our GOTS-certified cotton is sourced from Turkey, where our yarns are also produced, at spinning mill Topkapi Iplik. They have been around since 1972, and produced their first GOTS-certified cotton yarns already in 1999. The yarns used for our Gyllstad fabrics are all combed, this is done to get rid of any short cotton fibers. The combing of the cotton yarn makes it strong, with a smooth and lustrous surface.

Our Swedish fabrics
Our fabrics and linings are woven in Västergötland - Sweden at Berghems Väveri. They are a family owned business that's been around since the 1950's. Berghems work mainly with eco-yarns, and for our production exclusively with the GOTS-certified cotton from Turkey. We've worked very closely together with Berghems since 2017. Lennart the weaving master took on the challenge of producing our weaves according to Ulrikas design and quality criteria, even though we were quite small at that time. We are so grateful for our long and close cooperation with Lena and Lennart, the owners of Berghems Väveri, and we are also so happy to be able to produce our fabrics here in Sweden.
Our printing
Our printing is performed in Estonia on the island of Kreenholm in Narva. The textile factory also called Kreenholm was founded in 1857 but the company went bankrupt and was bought by a Swedish company in 2010. Fun fact is that this Swedish company is where Ulrika had her very first internship as a teenager in her hometown Ronneby in the South of Sweden - it's a small world. We have worked with Kreenholms printing facility since 2017, and we're happy to have them just a short trip away from Stockholm. One of the highlights of Ulrika's work process is to work together with the skilled staff on getting all details and colours right for our prints. All the pigments used for our printing are GOTS-certified.
Our manufacturing
After printing, our fabrics are sent on to our sewing factory Gevatex in Tallinn, the capitol of Estonia. We have worked with them since the start of Gyllstad, and actually Ulrika had been working together with them even before - ever since 2006. We know each other very well by now and can totally trust that we will get the high quality we expect with every single delivery. We are very happy to have our printing and sewing facilities this close, both because we can easily visit them, but also to keep our transport emissions down. Here - Ulrika is visiting Gevatex talking to Olga. She and her colleagues knows our products in and out and have produced hundreds of thousands of our bags, cases and cushions so far.

Today
Since our start those eleven years ago, Gyllstad has grown steadily, bringing Ulrika’s organic designs to happy homes and customers around the world. Today, our tight-knit team, continues to create new prints, woven fabrics and products for you and your home. Our passion for what we do is just as strong today as it was from the start. Our aim is and always will be to design products for you to love and live with for a long time to come.
With Swedish love from us - Ulrika, Siri, Fanny & Andrea
